Justo: Travel Safe & Fair
Justo is a free iOS app available on the App Store across four Brazilian cities. It combines crime data, community alerts and price reports, one-tap SOS, and on-device face blurring to address a recurring traveler problem.
The Problem
Travelers in unfamiliar cities can lack reliable context about neighborhood safety and fair local pricing. Rio de Janeiro became the first market used to shape a solution that respected both travelers and locals, using public data and community reporting rather than a published personal travel timeline.
The Solution
Justo combines community price reports with a safety heat map. Users can report venue prices, share safety incidents with automatic on-device face blurring, and access an SOS emergency button. The privacy flow was designed around LGPD-aware data handling.
Technical Highlights
Built natively in Swift for iOS, Justo uses Core ML for face detection and blurring before an incident photo is uploaded. MapKit powers the interactive heat map, community reports add local price context, and cached venue data supports limited use without a connection.
